GDPR UPDATE FOR WEBSITE TRACKING

The EU’s GDPR & ePrivacy legislation affects not just EU organisations, but websites worldwide, including Australia.

There are plenty of tools on the market that help with reduce risk of non-compliance (including free tools), however most are designed with EU websites in mind and show cookie consent popups to all visitors. This is going to be inappropriate for a lot of Australian websites whose core audience is local and who are only looking to update their tracking for EU visitors.

Our GDPR update for website tracking has been created with this in mind. It shows a consent popup in the EU only or can instead fire a session-cookie-only set of tracking codes the EU without a popup (the directives around session cookies being less strict). It can be implemented without developer changes to your website.

If you are using GTM and have access to developers, this is the more robust way to implement the tracking control. We can liaise with developers to do this.

Suitable for websites already using GTM for all tracking. Does not require modification of website code.

If your website is not using GTM, implementing this would require migrating to GTM (the benefits of which are far greater than any GDPR tracking compliance issues).
