Analytics
- Collecting anonymised data about people’s interactions with our website (in the aggregate) is very useful to improving a website.
- We do this using tools like GA4, Matomo, Amplitude, Mixpanel, Piwik Pro, Hubspot as well as our own proprietary analytics tool. That’s waaay more than we need but it’s because we are analytics specialists so are always looking to test different tools out in the market for our clients.
- These tools collect information about what actions you take on the website as well as details about your browser, IP address, network etc.
- This data is anonymised meaning we (Tactic Lab) can’t find out who you are unless you identify yourself by filling out a form with your details.
- The data providers themselves are in a different position. If they put in a lot of work (eg. if they’re subject to a government subpoena), they may be able to match your website activity to your real identity, for example by contacting your ISP.
- Each tool has privacy safeguards against this and we add others (eg. removing any personal data from the info we send them), but these safeguards are not absolute. You can find out more information (including opt-out methods) by clicking on the links above to the tools and going to the privacy policy.
- Data collection using these tools is currently OFF due to your browser blocking all tracking tools.
Advertising
- Ad campaigns that are supplemented by ad trackers on a company’s website are much more effective than ones that are not.
- We use ad trackers from Google, Microsoft, Meta, LinkedIn and Reddit.
- These tools collect information about what actions you take on the website and try to tie it to your existing logins at these companies. Meaning that the platforms may find out that you took a particular action on our website.
- Part of this may involve us sending personal information (if you’ve identified yourself by filling out a form) to these ad platforms. This is encrypted in transit meaning only the platforms themselves will have access to it.
- We (Tactic Lab) cannot use these tools to find out who you are, but we can use an action you took to define a targeted advertising list which may include you.
- Data collection using these tools is currently OFF due to your browser blocking all tracking tools.
A/B Testing
- A/B testing (or showing different versions of a page/website to different users to find out which ones convert better) makes it much easier to improve a website.
- We use VWO for this.
- This data is anonymised unless you identify yourself by filling out a form.
- Again we take all the steps we can to not send any personal data to any A/B testing tools.
- Data collection using these tools is currently OFF due to your browser blocking all tracking tools.
Website
- This website is built with WordPress, uses the Astra theme and runs on the Cloudflare CDN.
- These all collect their own data to facilitate your use of the website (including for security purposes). This is not something we (Tactic Lab) control.
Forms
- If you fill out a form, some visit data (eg. your browser, which website you visited from, when you first visited and which page you landed on) will be saved with the form.
- We use a range of tools such as WPForms, Google Sheets, Google Apps Script and Hubspot to process this data.
- We also use Google RecaptchaV3 to protect forms from spam submissions, these analyse your browsing behaviour to see if you might be a bot. See Google’s privacy policy and terms of service for more.
Payments
- If you make a payment on the website, this will be handled by Woocommerce and Stripe.
- These tools have their own data collection to facilitate the purchase (including for security purposes). This is not something we (Tactic Lab) control.
